Victoria sent me an email on 9/25/2017:

I was flying through SMF this weekend and found a post box! In Terminal A, pre-security, before the baggage claim area you’ll see some vending machines and a Chase ATM. To the right of that are silver post boxes in the wall, including a slot to drop off your outgoing mail!

Given the Terminal maps, this should be relatively easy to find as Terminal A pre-security isn’t that large.

Robert updated with a location for Terminal B:

Third level next to restrooms prior to security (in main terminal). Silver mailbox in the wall. M-F 10:30 Sat 10am

Chuck wrote to me in October 2023 with the following Terminal A update:

The area on the site for terminal A at the Sacramento airport is under construction. The mailbox is now located behind baggage claim 3 on the wall.

Given that picture, that looks more permanent than anything I’ve seen as temporary!
